Our 5-Point System Check & Its Value

September 30, 2024by Peter Hudson

One of our top priorities here at Southwest Irrigation is water conservation. We believe that using water efficiently benefits the environment and helps our lawns look in its best shape. At Southwest Irrigation we strive to provide efficient work as well, and one way we do this is with our 5-point system check. Each visit with us will include a 5-point system check. We’ve used this check for years and it is an excellent way for our technicians to really understand your system and the issues you may be experiencing.

The 5-Point System Check in Detail

Back Flow Check: Our 5-point system check includes checking your backflow. The backflow plays an extremely important role in your system, it ensures that the water from your sprinkler system does not mix with potable water. We usually check the backflow for any cracks or breaks, because backflows often bust due to freezes if not taken care of properly.

Spray Head Check: When we do a spray head check, we do this to ensure that all spray heads are functioning properly. Spray heads can become clogged or misaligned over time, so we like to make sure they’re in good working order. A functioning spray head should spray evenly and distribute a good amount of water pressure.

Rain Sensor Check (if applicable): We recommend all system owners do have a rain sensor. The rain sensor is a game changer whenever it comes to Smart Irrigation. Rain sensors automatically shut off irrigation after rainfall. Allowing you to save money and water. Heavy storms can allow your rain sensor to become detached or malfunction so the technician will inspect your rain sensor and be sure it’s in good working order.

Controller Settings: Additionally, our 5-point system checks include us setting your controller for the season. Setting up your controller can be tricky, and we understand that many of our customers struggle with this process. To assist them, we offer setting up the schedule during the system check.

Coverage Assessment:  Our 5-point system check also includes a coverage assessment. We do this assessment to ensure that the spray heads are covering the exact area they need to be. Sprinkler heads should distribute water evenly and cover the area they’re intended to do.

Our Technicians

Our technicians undergo weeks of training to ensure their skills in irrigation and drainage are suited for any issues they may encounter. Additionally, all our technicians are licensed with the state of Texas.

Our 5-point system is extremely valuable, providing our technicians with a comprehensive understanding of your system.
